What should I do prior to an overnight hike/camp?

CPR

Do not go on an extended hike (overnight) without knowing CPR. Take a class before you go. You may think this is unnecessary, but if you need to have CPR performed on you, you'll want others in the backcountry to have taken the class. Do unto others as you would have them do....you know the rest.

This all sounds well and good but... I would recommend looking into a wilderness first aid or even a wilderness first responder class. CPR has little value in a wilderness situation and chances are the only thing that knowing CPR in the wilderness will do is physically and emotionally exhaust the rescuer... The person posting this advice should look into the value of "wilderness CPR"

That's sound advice and I would advise the same. Thanks!
