Stay off the ground
Whether you are tent camping or sleeping out under the stars, using a sleeping bag or some other form of bedding, you need to put something between your torso and the cold hard ground. One solution is a sleeping pad. Another is a cot. Either way, laying in a sleeping bag without another barrier between you and the ground will not be comfortable. YouŽll really notice it when you try to stand in the morning.
