This is the big question that seems to keep most women away from camping. Without going into too much detail, be assured that it is possible for a woman to "take care of business" outdoors. Take your own toilet paper with you, find a nice size bush or a rock to duck behind, drop your shorts, squat as close to the ground as possible and let nature take its course. The first time is the hardest, but believe me, it gets easier after a couple of tries. If you're still unsure on the subject, there's an excellent book you might want to take a look at, called "How to Shit in the Woods: An Environmentally Sound Approach to a Lost Art" by Kathleen Mayer.
I was curious, for environmental reasons, do you leave the poop where you layed it, or do you have to do something else with it. Is there some kind of solvent or something you pour on it to disolve it. I just always wondered about that.
Some experts say to dig up 3 to 4 cm of topsoil and cover it when you finish, like a cat would. If you are camping with others and there are no facilities, be sure to establish a 'poop post' far enough away from your campsite so as not to cause offense!
Most trails expect hikers/campers to dig "cat holes" that are 6 inches deep and covered with loose soil to aid in decomposition. Be sure to do your business out of site of trails and away from other common paths to keep people off of them and dogs from digging them.
